Alexei Gurgov put his dark past behind him. Running a bookshop and living a quiet life in London, he has very few expectations. Then one night, his life is irrevocably changed, when he’s mugged in an alley. Instead of going to the police, Alexei tracks down the mugger and learns he’s merely a starving man trying to get by. Offering him a job and a place to stay, Alexei is determined to help make it right. The one thing he doesn’t expect, however, is to fall for his sudden flatmate. Will this be his own version of a storybook romance, or are they star-crossed lovers, determined to burn bright, then fall apart?

There are some E.M. Lindsey books where I'm ready to scream from the rooftops that she's the best writer ever (hint-hint Verismo) ... Absolution was not one of those books for me. While it was not a bad read either and I kind of enjoyed it to an extent, I still had bigger expectations for it.The premise of the story intrigued me and I thought that Lindsey could write an amazing story, but I fear that it wasn't a successful attempt because both Alexei and August felt kind of distant and, honestly, I didn't really connect with either of them. I actually didn't mind how quickly they got together, but I minded that Lindsey failed at giving the reader more of a feel for the feelings our MC Alexei was feeling.
Alexei and August frustrated me endlessly due to their inability to communicate, really communicate. On the one hand I kind of understand why they acted the way they did, but on the other hand I quite literally wanted to yell at them so that they'd speak to one another about the things that were bothering them.
Also, the amount of angst kind of killed the experience for me. Some say that it was the perfect amount of angst, but for me ... too much!
One of the heroes is supposed to be POC, but I don't rightly see it on the cover photo. The photo is nice and I really like it, but shouldn't one of them have ... you know, darker skin?
Oh, and lastly. The amount of missing words and typos is simply outrageous. I had to re-read several passages due to the fact that some words were simply missing. I've never had such problems with a Lindsey book before and I hope that it will be fixed soon.

Absolution edition by EM Lindsey Romance eBooks Reviews
What starts as a misunderstanding turns into one of the best romantic second chance love stories that I've read in years, absolutely recommend this book to everyone!
I really enjoyed reading this book . Interesting characters and story line . It was crazy what they put each other thru , because of lack of faith and communications . It was sad , but worth it in the end. A very happy and worth while ending .
So frustrating! Just sit down and talk to each other! But at the same time, definitely realistic. Humans are never good at dealing with emotions, especially when you've been hurt before.
Two men with tragic pasts, begin a relationship after Alexei rescues August from the streets. But history, mistrust and misconceptions takes it's toll. A chance meeting, after several months break brings the two back together... well worth the read
Very few characters, which I love. Alexie is so alone in the world. I wanted to hug him myself. But, thankfully, August is there for him, and he was wonderful too. Lots of stuff is amazing and super hot and then disaster. Readers must find out for themself, of course. That's the fun of it all. And it made a case for having people in your life who love you. Everyone needs that.
Oh man where do I begin with out giving to much away.....I love the fact Alexei offered help to August with out knowing anything about him.. This book is well written and a really good read. I started this book the other night not thinking and I was up to after 3 finishing this book I just couldn't put it down
Another great story by an author who knows how to draw you into a story until you feel you are actually a part of it. The characters are so real and the emotions so raw. Alexei was emotionally damaged by the tragic loss of his parents and had a fear of getting close to anyone again. But it was his life experience from the pain of that loss that caused him to offer a helping hand to the down and out August. The big blow up had to happen. Without it they would never have really seen what they meant to eachother. The ending was so sweet!
